THE CALIFORNIA NUT FESTIVAL

COME TO CHICO FOR THE CALIFORNIA NUT FESTIVAL!

April is a wonderful time to hold California's Nut Festival to honor one of Chico's most prolific crops and the coming of Spring!

SPRINGTIME IN CHICO

Chico is quite literally surrounded by nut tree orchards, and a drive in the country during the early spring is a gorgeous sight to behold. The almond blossoms (remember, in Chico it's ă-mond) are the most spectacular, but you'll also find walnut, pistachio, and pecan orchards in large numbers.

Almond Blossoms

The California Nut Festival, one of newest of California food festivals, is sponsored and presented by the North Valley Community Foundation of Chico, California, and takes place every year in April.

During the week-long California festival, there are all sorts of nutty events and pre-events that take place around town.

  • Like the Children's Bee Book Storytime, with puzzles and costumes and nutty snacks (bees are VERY important for nuts, you know)
  • The nutty dishes featured at local restaurants, like Baby Spinach Salad with Spiced Skinner Ranch Pecans, or Chinese Chicken Salad with Tamari Almonds
  • The locally designed nutty jewelry that is created in both gold & silver
  • The Agribee Spelling Contest - all the words are related to agriculture
  • And you can end it all nutty as a fruitcake by attending the big event celebrating North Valley agriculture - with food and beverage tastings, folk music, plein air artists - all amid the turn-of-the-century ambiance of the historic Patrick Ranch

Just one more good reason to come to Chico: The California Nut Festival!
