As a matter of fact, I do!
by: Suzi

Greetings JOJO,

I know the perfect place for you and your family to go crabbing!

One of the most memorable days my DH and I spent with our young sons was to take them crabbing off the Santa Cruz Wharf - many, many years ago.

We bought a crab trap with a long line and some fish heads for bait, attached the fish heads to the inside of the trap, lowered the trap down into the water, and waited - snuggled in our blankets and sipping hot chocolate from a thermos.

And we actually caught a crab! What an experience!!

There are several places along the Northern California coastline where you can drop a crab trap: Pacifica, Bodega Bay breakwater, Point Arena, Crescent City.

You can also go kayak crabbing, or take a chartered sports fishing vessel from almost any of the coastal towns. (Not sure I'd try this until the kidlettes are a little older, though.)

Whichever way you go, there's nothing better than fresh-caught crab - whether you serve it at a beach-side picnic or take it home for dinner!

Hope this helps and Happy Crabbing!

Cheers,
Suzi
