DISCOVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA'S
INTRODUCING ME PAGE

I'LL BET YOU'RE WONDERING WHO I AM!

Suzi at Age 2

First of all, Welcome, and thank you so much for visiting my website!

My name is Suzi Rosenberg and I'm in my 60s. I'm not quite sure
how that happened, but there you go!

NEW! Leave a Comment!
If you'd like to leave a comment about Discover Northern
California, now you can! Just jump to the bottom of the page.

THE EARLY YEARS

I grew up in the United States Marine Corps - that makes me a
Marine Brat, even to this day. You may have heard the old saws, Once a Marine, always a Marine; and, There's no such thing as an ex-Marine! Well, the same holds true for Marine Brats. But it's okay. That's what we proudly call ourselves!

Growing up in the Marines meant that every three years or so we'd
pack up our bags, all our household goods, and whatever pets we'd accumulated at the time, and we'd move to a new place.

Each time, we left behind the place we'd come to call home and the people we'd come to call friends. It was heartbreaking to have to go.

But there was a flip-side. Every three years we had the opportunity
to turn a new place into our home, and to meet new people and make them our friends!

That was enough to make my heart start dancing in anticipation!

So now you know what makes me tick - traveling, looking forward
to new adventures, discovering new places, and meeting new people!

  • Getting into the car to start a trip...
  • Waiting at the airport to board a plane...
  • Hearing a train whistle and wondering where it's headed...
  • Standing dockside beside a cruise ship as porters load the luggage...

Heady stuff for someone like me!

RAISING A FAMILY

Oddly enough, when I grew up, married, and started a family, we ended up staying put for almost 20 years.

At first it was sort of accidental. My husband graduated college
during the recession of 1974 when jobs were hard to come by. He was lucky enough to get a job in his career field - many of his classmates didn't!

Later, because we were living in a
very small town in California's Central Valley - far from the madding crowd, so to speak - we opted to stay. It seemed like a safer place to raise our two boys than some big city somewhere.

During this time - not having a lot of extra money to spare - we satisfied our wanderlust by thoroughly exploring Northern California.

Many of our weekends and all of our holidays were spent taking our boys on one adventure or another: camping in Yosemite, the boardwalk and crabbing in Santa Cruz, exploring Sutter's Fort in Sacramento...

Then, as will happen, the boys grew up and made their own lives - which is what one hopes for! Harking back to my youth, I say to my husband: "You've made career sacrifices to let the boys grow up here, but they're on their own and doing well now. Let's grab that next career opportunity that comes along, where ever it takes us. I don't mind moving around!"

Ultimately, after a few moves around various parts of California, we landed back in Northern California - though in a different small town than before - and we couldn't be happier. Turns out, this is where we wanted to be all along!

LOOKING TOWARD RETIREMENT

Hubby Wolf and Suzi

The day has finally come that we're actually beginning to anticipate Darling Hubby's eventual retirement - it's still a day or two down the road, but we like to be prepared.

Retirement means more freedom to travel, which we've both
enjoyed a taste of in recent years.

But as retirees, we could take advantage of those last-minute deals that require you to be footloose and packed within three days.

On the other hand, retirement could mean a change in
circumstances. We'd like to keep our current lifestyle. And we want to lavish visits on the children and grandchildren.

Like most people, we dream of having fun and enjoying ourselves while we'restill young and healthy enough to do it! Will we be able to do all this and travel too? It's a big question.

So we're thinking, How can we find a way to supplement our retirement income to support those little extras? Just in case we need it. You know how it is. We've done okay and we're comfortable, but life's uncertain. You can never be too prepared!

Lots of people these days are talking about how to make money on-line - through eBay, Craigslist, affiliations, e-stores, websites, blogging... It seems everyone out there has, not only an answer but the answer!

Sounds like a great idea in theory, but I don't know anything about the Internet except how to shop and how to research stuff! Besides, can the average person really make money on the Internet?

Well, let me say first off - I am a skeptic with a capital S. I don't buy into claims that I can become rich using somebody's special secret way to earn tens of thousands of dollars per month!

If it sounds too good to be true, I'm pretty darned certain it's too good to be true!

THAT BEING SAID, I STUMBLED ONTO SBI!

The first thing that caught my attention about SBI was that they
didn't make any get-rich-quick promises. I thought, Well, at least they're not making ridiculously outlandish claims! So, I decided to check it out a bit - with plenty of the afore-mentioned skepticism!

By the way, SBI stands for Site Build It! and they call themselves a
Web Hosting Service, but it's actually more like a Web Hosting Service that offers a Masters in Successful Site Building.

I watched the videos, checked out some SBIer-owned websites,
explored the case studies, downloaded the free e-books like, Make Your Content PRESell!...

The best part of what I was seeing was SBI's promise to take care of the technical aspects of building a website - which had always been the stopping point for me when I thought about "Doing something on the Web" - that, and their Money Back Guarantee.

The more I investigated, the better it sounded. I decided to give it a try. After all, I could always get my money back!

Now, I'm Publisher, Editor, Travel Writer, Photographer,
Videographer, and Chief Bottle Washer of my own beautiful website and enjoying every minute of it! And Hubby Wolf helps with the research, photography and videography (you'll see his name under a lot of the photos and in the video credits)!

In the meantime, SBI has lived up to all of its promises and then
some! If you're like me and you've thought about "Doing Something on the Web" - and you'd like to know more about how I came to choose SBI! as my website hosting application, please see my You Too Can Build Your Own Website! page.

SBI! helped me to build this lovely website and also helped me
indulge in one of my many passions by sharing my love of travel, new adventures, and new places - especially in Northern California - with you!

You may be thinking I'm somehow special if I was able to do this - that I must have had knowledge that you don't have. Believe me, it's not true! I had no previous knowledge of website building, HTML, CSS, or any of that stuff. I still don't know a lot about it.

What I do know is where to go and what there is to see and do in
Northern California. SBI! does most of the rest! If I can build a website like this, so can you - so can anyone!

But you don't have to take my word for it -
Check it out for yourself:
