Looking for somewhere to go this weekend? Then check out my Northern California weekend getaways - it may be a romantic trip you're looking for, or a cheap one; maybe you want educational, or just plain fun.

Whatever you're looking for, I think you'll find these are worthy excursions that you can enjoy!

How could I disappoint him when he put it like that? So, here you have it - I'm sharing some of our favorite road trips with you.

We're taking Sunday drives to a whole new level by turning them
into weekend road trips! Because I live in the Chico area, these trips start from there, but you can jump right in from anywhere along the route; and feel free to add your own side trips as you discover other opportunities along the way!

NorCal Takes Flight. During the Fall and Winter seasons, Northern California becomes one of North America's most important Winter resting stops along the Pacific Flyway for migratory waterfowl. Add fine dining and wine tasting to the experience and you're in for a romantic weekend trip!

Wintertime Fun in the High
Sierras. Enjoy sleigh rides and snowball fights, visit lively mountain towns and world renowned ski resorts, and drink in the beauty of the High Sierras wrapped in a Winter coat of white.

Another High Sierra Wintertime Trip. From Yosemite's Badger Pass to Mammoth Mountain, to the Cedar House Sport Hotel in Truckee - enjoy Winter sports and cozying up to après ski fireplaces.

Magical Winter in the Shasta Cascades. Mt. Shasta's snow-covered slopes, a star-bright night in Dunsmuir, breath-taking views of Mt. Shasta, and Castle Crags, plus Mt. Lassen's snow-cloaked hot springs and mud pots.

And here's a little bonus for you: I know Santa Barbara's not in Northern California, but it's a beautiful area, and my friend Delia offers some great tips for visiting Santa Barbara!
